Melinda spends her days teaching yoga to all ages and abilities and serving her family and community in Summit County.  Her classes are a dynamic blend of warm ups, Kriyas, yin and vinyasa sequenses, mantras, and meditations.  Inspired by the words, “Be the Lighthouse,”  Melinda’s intention is to help students find the spark to ignite a daily spiritual practice.

When she’s not practicing and teaching yoga, Melinda enjoys tele-skiing, snowboarding, climbing, hiking and spending time with her family, friends, and pets.

Melinda received her first certification in 2011 under the guidance of Cooke Fisher at the Colorado Mountain College, in Breckenridge, CO. She received her Level 1 KYTA certification in Crestone, CO, with Karta Purkh Kaur in 2015. In 2019 she studied with Kari Kwinn in Breckenridge, CO, to teach Level 1 and 2 Yin Yoga. In 2022, Melinda became a Licensed Massage Therapist, and is excited to add this to her offerings.

Class Descriptions

Community Yoga

Heal, strengthen and bring balance to your system through breath and movement. Balance your energy, emotions and thoughts through a mindful practice. Inspired by the students, these classes are always unique and taught with intuition and a sincere desire to promote self-healing and self-discovery.  The intention for every class is to build strength, increase flexability, tune in with a meditative mind and to simply be present. Postures may be held for several breaths and modified to facilitate personal growth and transformation.

Students will also experience different healing arts modalities including tapping, reflexology, and self-massage techniques.  There may be a few Yin Yoga postures to help students develop awareness of the body’s meridians.  Taoist Yoga and Kundalini Yoga will be incorporated when the teachings revolve around glands + organs, and subtle energy centers.

Kundalini Yoga (offered on occasion, and upon request, at the Summit County Senior and Community Center)

A Kundalini class begins with a short chant followed by a warm-up to stretch the spine and improve flexibility. These classes include gentle poses (asanas) and breathing techniques (pranayama), Kundalini Kriyas (yoga sets), Mantra Meditation, and more.

Yoga for Athletes (Sol Yoga + Wellness)

A yoga class to get the body and mind ready for your Summit County activities!

Yoga for Athletes supports active people and athletes.  We will build strength and flexibility and stay in peak physical and mental performance year round.  We will explore traditional yoga postures in both flow sequences and longer holds; breathing techniques, and moments of intention, concentration and meditation.
